Preventing Bigger Issues
Typically between the teenage years and the early twenties, the final set of molars or “Wisdom Teeth” emerge. In some cases, wisdom teeth grow in naturally with no issues. For many, however, wisdom teeth cause issues as they try to break through the gums. Wisdom teeth can become impacted emerging at an angle through the gum line. Often enough, this causes pain. The tooth can emerge unevenly or even only partially.
When a wisdom tooth becomes impacted, it can cause damage to other teeth and alter the structure of the jaw. They also are a breeding ground for bacteria since they are difficult to clean. It may become necessary to extract wisdom teeth to prevent bigger issues from arising. X-rays during your routine dental visits can indicate whether or not you need to remove your wisdom teeth.
