While traditional crowns and same-day crowns have similar initial costs, the same-day option proves more economical over time. Same-day crowns spare patients the expenses associated with temporary crowns and the additional appointment required for permanent crown placement. Due to their superior fit, these single-visit crowns have an extended lifespan compared to traditional crowns.
Normal x-rays cannot always identify certain issues or structures in the dentistry field. A Panorex is an imaging machine that can succeed where x-rays fail. You will be positioned in a chair and your chin will gently rest on a ledge. The machine will then scan the entire way around your head giving us a view of your head, bones, teeth and even sinuses.
Being able to view the entire structure of your head gives your dentist a lot of information they might not have previously had. We can ensure that things are properly functioning and spot any possible problems there might be. When using the Panorex, we’ll have a view of many things, including infections, specific types of structural problems and even asymmetry.
The intraoral camera is an astonishing imaging device that has given us the capability to see angles inside the mouth that were previously impossible to see. Using this camera and a monitor, we can get a perspective of the entire mouth and have a better view of any possible complications there may be. Another advantage to this system is that it also gives the patient the ability to see what the dentist sees as well. The images gathered with this camera also can be used for getting procedure acceptance from your insurance company.
A root canal falls under the branch of dentistry known as endodontics. During a root canal, the nerves or roots of a tooth are removed. Typically this needs to be done when a tooth has pain because of the root being infected.
Rotary Endodontics has a different approach to performing a root canal. A special electric handpiece is used that allows the procedure to be done much faster than without it and also makes things easier for the dentist.
Dentist use special tools called handpieces during their work. The two types of handpieces that exist are air-driven handpieces and electric handpieces. The bur on the electric variety of handpieces is driven by a motor and therefore much more powerful than their air-driven counterparts. Using an electric handpiece enables the dentist to remove decay much faster and reduce the amount of time needed to finish a procedure.
Many private offices in the field of modern dentistry are approving the use of digital x-rays. These digital x-rays create an image of a tooth or various teeth that dentists can then view on a computer. With the aid of imaging software, dentists can get a much better view of the teeth and the structures that surround them with astonishing clarity. An added benefit of digital x-rays is that they use almost 80% less radiation than a normal x-ray. Digital x-rays are more sensitive to the type of radiation being used and were by design made this way as an added benefit for patients.
